Matthew Hodes

Matthew Hodes, MBBS B.Sc M.Sc Ph.D FRC Psych  is a Senior Lecturer in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Imperial College London and Honorary Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at St Mary’s Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, CNWL NHS Trust. He studied Medicine at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, and Social Anthropology at the London School of Economics & Political Science.

He trained in General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at The Maudsley Hospital and was recruited to research post in adolescent eating disorders, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London. He was then appointed Senior Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School (later merged with Imperial College). In recent years,  research has focused on cultural psychiatry, investigating ethnicity, migration and mental health, and  the interface of physical  and mental health.

Within Imperial College, he has developed many courses in the undergraduate  curriculum, and is currently lead on human behaviour for BSc biomedical science, and child psychiatry teaching for the MBBS BSc in neuroscience and psychiatry. He developed academic and research programmes for medical postgraduate training in child and adolescent psychiatry, within the framework of the London Deanery (NHS). He has lectured  widely in the UK and internationally.
