IkeOluwa Lagunju


IkeOluwa Lagunju, MBBS (Ibadan), FMCPaed (Nig), FWACP is a Consultant Child Neurologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. She received her undergraduate medical training at the University of Ibadan and thereafter worked as a general practitioner in the secondary level of care for about 10 years.

She later decided for residency training in Paediatrics at the University College Hospital, Ibadan with child neurology as her main area of interest. Dr Lagunju is an astute clinician and the Head of the Paediatric Neurology Unit of the UCH, Ibadan. The thrust of her clinical work is at the tertiary level of care. Her research interests include paediatric epilepsies and childhood neurodisability. Consequent on her interest in childhood stroke, she pioneered the work on routine transcranial Doppler (TCD) screening in children with sickle cell disease in Nigeria.

Dr Lagunju has considerable experience in the training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors in residency training. She has served as an External Examiner to the University of The Gambia, The Gambia and the University of Beau, Cameroun. She has a keen interest in research and has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
