Annette Amodu


Annette Amodu Dr. Ibironke Annette Amodu is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist  at  Bexley CAMHS in the United Kingdom. Her qualifications include        MBBS(Nigeria), MSc. (KCL, UK), DPM (Ireland), MRCPsych, PgCert Autism/  LD  (Tizard Centre, UK) and PTTLS (UK). She has extensive experience of  teaching  and recently finished a certificate program to teach, she promotes  awareness of  Neuro-developmental disorders in Nigeria, UK and Ghana  through training and  teaching of professionals, parents and communities and  has spoken about these  issues on the radio, churches and community programs. She was a keynote  speaker at the Zamarr Institute (Specialist Learning Disability School) at their  yearly fundraising program in 2012. She has received training on medico-legal  work through a certification program run by Bond Solon (UK) and during her training at the prestigious great Ormond Street Hospital London and provided expert advice to the Family Courts in matters related to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The work involved assessments and provision of medico legal reports for use by other professionals and the courts on child and adolescent issues (at times leading to court involvement). Her areas of expertise include child abuse and neglect, care proceedings, residence and contact for children, assessing parenting capacity and on trans-cultural issues. She was an independent adviser on the adoption panel for 5 years in the UK. She also has a private practice in Nigeria and UK with specific interests in Learning disability, emotional behavioral disorders and trauma in disadvantaged children and is working closely with Orphanages to improve the care these children receive through training of staff; she is currently studying towards a Diploma in child health to update her knowledge of Acute Pediatrics to help in medical missions in disadvantaged populations.
